Family Support New Hampshire Member Wins
2006 Smith Award for Excellence in Service to Families

On May 16, 2006 the New Hampshire Children’s Trust Fund (NHCTF) announced the recipient of the 2006 Smith Award for Excellence in Service to Families:  The Grapevine Family and Community Resource Center of Antrim.

The Grapevine was chosen for its exceptional leadership in the areas of community leadership, exemplifying a philosophy of service that recognizes the value and importance of parenting and healthy families, and organizational capacity.

NHCTF congratulates the Grapevine for its dedication to keeping children safe and families strong, for its comprehensive outreach to the communities it serves, for the commitment of volunteers and staff, and for its success in responding to so many aspects of family support.  In addition to providing parenting education and family support around child development challenges, this agency extends itself into the community by providing resources, such as a wood bank, that meet community needs beyond family support.  The Grapevine has provided leadership in the coordination of local community suppers and organizes The People’s Service Exchange, a group of over 100 members that exchange trade skills and services for “time dollars” that can be used to purchase needed services. These projects provide the framework to strengthen informal support systems of family, neighborhood, and community.

Other FSNH member organizations were honored as Smith Award finalists: The Children’s Place and Parent Education Center in Concord, Good Beginnings of Sullivan County/The Diana Love Center for Children and Families in Claremont, and the Riverbend Parent-Child Centers in Concord, Penacook, Pittsfield, Franklin and Hillsboro.

NHCTF is proud to award the Grapevine Family and Community Resource Center with a cash award of $15,000, to be distributed over two years, to support their organization and the communities that they serve.
